Salem Abdul Rahman Saleh (born 4 January 1993)[1] is a chess grandmaster from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the current Asian champion.
Born in Sharjah,[2] he won three Asian youth chess championships: under-14 in 2007,[3] U-16 in 2008[4] and U-18 in 2009.[5] In 2008 he also won the Arab Chess Championship. In August 2015, in Al Ain, Salem won the Asian Chess Championship and the Asian blitz chess championship.[6] The former victory enabled him to qualify for the FIDE World Cup, which took place the following month in Baku. He was eliminated in the first round by Wei Yi.
Salem Saleh played for the UAE's team on the top board in every Chess Olympiad since 2008.[7]
