Services

Monday to Saturday daytimes there is generally a half-hourly service from Sutton Parkway to southbound to Nottingham. There are two trains per hour northbound, one terminating at Mansfield Woodhouse and the other at Worksop. Evenings hourly in each direction and two-hourly service in both directions on Sundays, though these all terminate at Mansfield Woodhouse. [1]

When Sunday services began in December 2008, some trains ran through to Worksop and from 12 July 2009 the first service in the morning and the last service back on a Sunday was extended to/from Skegness, providing the opportunity for a day out in Skegness by rail. Trains north of Mansfield were not well used however and were withdrawn at the May 2011 timetable change.[2]

There is also one daily southbound service Mondays to Fridays (from Mansfield Woodhouse) that continues beyond Nottingham to Norwich, however there is no return train.

Facilities

Access to the platforms is at street level with car parks located on both sides of the platforms given excellent access for the disabled.

There are no toilet facilities on this station.

Local transport connections

The station is located more than 2 miles (3.2 km) from the centre of town and is generally used as a park and ride station. There is only an hourly bus service operating outside the station by Trent Barton to the local area. There are buses between Kirkby-in-Ashfield railway station and Sutton-in-Ashfield itself.

There is no taxi rank at the station.
