Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission

The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) is a regulatory and service parastatal organization of Tanzania, operating under the mandate of the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology. Offices are located in Njiro Area, Arusha and has zonal offices in Namanga, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.

The TAEC has been mandated to:

  • Provide atomic energy industry regulation and atomic radiation protection services.
  • Co-ordinate or facilitate or advise on, the transfer and safe, peaceful utilization of nuclear science and technology and nuclear power.
  • The control of the use of ionizing and non ionizing radiation sources, the promotion of safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear technology and atomic energy.
  • Advise the government of Tanzania on the implementation of international conventions related to nuclear technology and atomic energy.
