Tollgate House, which was completed in 1975, was a nineteen floor office building in the city of Bristol, England. It was the second tallest building in Bristol at the time of completion, with a height of 77 metres (252 feet), after St Mary Redcliffe. After the completion in 1981 of Castlemead, which is also a nineteen floor structure but stands at 80 metres (262 feet), Tollgate House remained the third tallest building in Bristol until its demolition began in January 2006. The demolition was completed at the end of May of the same year.[1]
Tollgate House was replaced by the car-park for the Cabot Circus retail development.[2] The development received a BREEAM rating of "excellent", in part for recycling 90% of the waste generated during demolition on the site.[2] The project was part of a greater redevelopment of Bristol city centre.[3]
