Turnberry Ocean Club Residences is a luxury residential tower planned for Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.[1] The project is designed by architects Carlos Zapata and Robert Swedroe, and developed by Turnberry Associates. Currently the project’s Sales Center has virtual tours,[2] a full scale three bedroom model residence and hosts events.[3] One Sotheby’s International Realty represents Turnberry Ocean Club Residences.

Description

The project has 154 three to six bedroom residences. Each residence will have two direct-entry elevators and private terraces.

The building is set to break ground in late fall of 2016. As of spring 2016, contracts have been signed for more than one third of the building.[4]

Architecture

Carlos Zapata is a Venezuelan-born architect, responsible for Turnberry Ocean Club’s glass design. He is known for his work on Soldier Field in Chicago.[5] The building will be 649 feet and 54 stories.[6]

Robert Swedroe worked for 12 years as a senior design architect for Morris Lapidus, the architect behind Miami’s Fontainebleau Hotel.

Fort Lauderdale based firm, EDSA, INC, is designing the master planning and landscape architecture for Turnberry Ocean Club.

Development

Turnberry Associates is a development and property management company based in Aventura, Florida, started by real estate developer Donald Soffer. The company's residential, hospitality, retail and commercial projects are valued at more than $8 billion.[7] Other projects include Porto Vita, Aventura Mall, Fontainebleau Hotel, Turnberry Isle Miami Resort and Country Club, and the Residences at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas now known as The Signature at MGM Grand.

Most recently, a joint venture between the Turnberry’s Soffers and LeFrak real estate families has closed on a $22 million deal to redevelop a 183-acre site in North Miami called SoLē Mia.[8]

Property Features

The building will feature 70,000 sq.ft.[9] of amenities including two hydrotherapy spas, outdoor theater, salon, fitness center, yoga and Pilates studio, and outdoor dog walking area.[10] Most of these will be on floors 30-33, known as the Sky Club, which is devoted entirely to amenities.

There will be three swimming pools at Turnberry Ocean Club; one at the lobby level overlooking the ocean, and the two cantilevered pools on the 30th floor.[11]
