Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Ubakala is a large town in Umuahia South Local Government Area (LGA) of Abia State, Nigeria. It is one of the five ancient clans of Umuahia. A popular market for which it is known by is the Apumiri Market. It has about 13 autonomous communities. It is situated at the south of Umuahia. They have common boundaries with Isiala-ngwa LGA. Some of ubakala's notable sons includes Late Sir Ojimadu Cyprian Nwaeze, Sir Williams Ebere Nwaeze, Chief C.N. Onyebuchi, Late W.O II Silas Ikondu Nwachukwu, Barr. Emeka Nwankpa, Chief Tony Ukasanya, Major C. Nkuku(rtd), Chief Ugochukwu Ajuzie, Late Nwaubani Geoffrey Chigbu, Pastor Chika R.Christian Onyebuchi, Col. B.I. Ihesiaba(rtd.), Chief Richard Onyekwere, and Engr Obi Nzeadibe. Ubakala people are generally simple-looking, religious, and industrious. Ubakala has evolved into conglomerates of thirteen viable villages, each one presided over by an Eze with his council of elders/chiefs.
