WQXE (98.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an Adult Contemporary format. Licensed to Elizabethtown, Kentucky, USA, the station is currently owned by Skytower Communications-E'town, Inc. and features programing from CNN Radio and Westwood One.[1]

History

The station has been broadcasting at 98.3 on the FM dial since 1996 after having been on three other frequencies throughout its time on the air. According to a snapshot at the LKYRadio.com website, the station had broadcast certain high school football and basketball games featuring teams representing Hardin County-area schools, along with some games involving the Bowling Green-based Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers football during the 1960s and 1970s, which were since moved to WIEL and WTHX.[2]

Throughout its time on the air, hourly news updates are provided by the station at the top of every hour. The "Quicksie" branding has been used by the station since the 1990s.

Coverage area

WQXE serves areas of west-central and north-central Kentucky, mainly in areas between Cave City and Louisville, and into parts of southernmost Indiana. The station can be heard as far south as the Mammoth Cave tourist area and Brownsville, as far west as Morgantown, Beaver Dam, and just short of Owensboro, as far east as Lebanon, Kentucky, and as far north as an area just north of the Jeffersonville and Corydon areas in Indiana. Therefore, Grade B coverage of WQXE can be received in the Metropolitan Louisville and Jefferson County area.[3] However, since 2014, reception in certain areas of Barren and Edmonson Counties of Kentucky is rather limited due to the launch of W252CV, who also broadcasts at 98.3 MHz.
