The WZ-111 heavy tank (Chinese: WZ-111重型坦克) was a Chinese heavy tank that was developed in the 1960s but was cancelled in 1966 due to many mechanical problems.

History

It featured a 750 hp supercharged diesel engine, the torsion bar suspension was made up by 7 road wheels and 4 return rollers. The Inducer laid in front, with drive sprocket in the rear. This type of tank used many Soviet tanks design elements. [1]

The first prototype, without turret, was tested from 1964. Because of many technological problems, it was set aside in 1966.[2][3] [4] A WZ-111 hull is now displayed at the China Tank Museum, Beijing.
