Wendy West is an American television producer and writer. She has worked on the Showtime drama Dexter as a writer and producer and has been nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy Award and three times for a Writers Guild of America (WGA) Award for her work on the series.

Biography

West attended Carleton College graduating in 1994. While there she was active in theater including directing John Guare's "Six Degrees of Separation".

West began working in television as a story editor and writer for the first season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 1999. She was promoted to co-producer for the second season. She wrote eight episodes of the series over the first two seasons before leaving the crew in 2001. During this period she also worked as a co-producer and writer for Gideon's Crossing in 2000. She moved on to write for the legal dramas The Practice (2001) and For the People (2002).

In 2003 she became a writer and producer for the series Line of Fire. In 2004 she was a producer for Hawaii. She worked as a freelance writer for Numb3rs in 2005. She gained a further production role as a supervising producer and writer for the first season of The Closer in 2005. She was promoted to co-executive producer for the second season in 2006. She was a supervising producer and writer for the short-lived crime dramas K-Ville (2007) and The Beast (Spring 2009).

She became a supervising producer and writer for the fourth season of the Showtime drama Dexter in autumn 2009. She was nominated for the Writers Guild of America (WGA) Award for Best Drama Series at the February 2010 ceremony for her work on the fourth season.[1] She was promoted to co-executive producer for the fifth season in 2010 and continued to write episodes.
