Wylie Watson (6 February 1889 – 3 May 1966) (born John Wylie Robertson[1]) was a British actor.[2] Among his best-known roles were those of "Mr Memory", an amazing man who commits "50 new facts to his memory every day" in Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 film The 39 Steps,[3] and wily storekeeper Joseph Macroon in the Ealing comedy Whisky Galore!. He emigrated to Australia in 1952, and made his final film appearance there in The Sundowners.
