Balliol College, Oxford, one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford, is run by the Master and Fellows of the college. The Master of the college must be "the person who is, in [the Fellows] judgement, most fit for the government of the College as a place of religion, learning, and education".[8] The current Master of Balliol is Drummond Bone, a scholar of the Romantic poet Lord Byron. He has held the post since October 2011, following his retirement as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool in 2008.[9]
