4585 Ainonai, provisional designation 1990 KQ, is a carbonaceous asteroid from the outer region of the asteroid belt, about 15 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 16 May 1990, by Japanese amateur astronomers Kin Endate and Kazuro Watanabe at the Kitami Observatory in eastern Hokkaidō, Japan.[6]

The asteroid orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.1–3.4 AU once every 4 years and 6 months (1,650 days). Its orbit shows an eccentricity of 0.24 and is tilted by 11 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic. It has a rotation period of 38.310 hours.[5] Based on observations carried out by the U.S. Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer with its NEOWISE mission, the asteroid has an albedo of 0.11 with a corresponding diameter of 11 kilometers,[4] while the Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link (CALL) assumes a lower albedo of 0.06, which is a typical value for dark, C-type bodies. As a consequence, CALL calculates the asteroid's diameter to measure 15 kilometers, as the lower the body's reflectivity (albedo), the higher its diameter for a given absolute brightness (absolute magnitude).[3]

The minor planet is named after Ainonai, a small town located 10 kilometers west of Kitami in eastern Hokkaidō (also see 3785 Kitami and 3720 Hokkaido).[2]
