Allied Fiber is an open-access, integrated, network-neutral colocation and dark fiber superstructure provider in the United States that provides long-haul communications and short haul dark optical fiber solutions for domestic and global network operators. As of June 2015, the company’s Southeast Route spanning from Miami, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia and connecting all points in between, is Ready for Service.[1]

The company has designed and constructed more than 220 fusion splicing locations along the Southeast Route, which will increase over time due to additional lateral requirements.[1]

History

Allied Fiber was established in 2008 by Hunter Newby, CEO and Founder of Allied Fiber.[2]

Network

Allied Fiber’s Southeast segment comprises 700-miles spanning from Miami, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia.[1] The north segment of Allied Fiber's network includes new routes covering New York City, NY to Chicago, IL; New York, NY to Ashburn, VA; and Chicago, IL to Ashburn, VA.[1] Since Allied Fiber’s launch, it has been fielding requests for new, neutral colocation and dark fiber along the route it has constructed, in addition to requests for its future planned route segments along the proposed ring that it has not yet built.[1]

To respond to its requests, in February 2015, Allied Fiber launched a survey asking the public to rank these route segments in order of priority and level of interest in the following areas:

  • Atlanta, GA to Ashburn, VA
  • Ashburn, VA to New York City, NY
  • Ashburn, VA to Chicago, IL

Allied Fiber will use the results of this survey to decide on the build out of its next market.[1]

Industry Members and Business Partnerships

In July 2014, Allied Fiber established a Point of presence (PoP) within Cologix’s Jacksonville, Florida Meet-Me-Rooms.[3]

During February 2015, Allied Fiber announced it selected Colo Atl to support its network, colocation requirements for its Southeast Route.[4]
