Kieren Keane (born October 20, 1981 in London) is an English professional footballer who last played for Charlotte Eagles in the USL.

Playing career

Keane, whose father is American, played alongside future United States men's national soccer team defender Jay DeMerit for Chicago Fire Premier in the USL Premier Development League, and then invited the future star to Europe. They both played for Southall, where Keane scored 37 goals in 34 games and was named player of the season. Keane went on to play with Weymouth, Torquay United, Dundee and RCD Mallorca B.

Keane suffered a broken tibia in 2008, and returned to the United States to regain his fitness by playing soccer for Sockers FC and the Bridges to the Pros Academy. He signed with the Charlotte Eagles of the USL Second Division in 2010, making his debut for the Eagles on April 24, 2010 in a game against the Richmond Kickers.

Coaching career

Keane holds England Football Association Coaching Certificates for levels 1, 2, and 3, and was a youth soccer coach for the Chicago Sockers, Chicago Magic and Bridges To The Pros Academy. He currently coaches at Naperville Soccer Association. During his recuperation from his broken leg he accepted assistant coaching positions with Dave Richardson at Sockers FC and Bret Hall at the Bridges to the Pros Academy, and was in line to become the Chicago Sockers and Magic Alliance U23 head coach, but opted to sign with the Charlotte Eagles of the USL Second Division instead.

He was hired as assistant coach and director of technical training and player development by Bryan College in March 2010 – Brian College went on to have a fairytale season finishing in the top 10 in the nation for the first time in their 100-year history also reaching the sweet sixteen finals. Brian finished conference champions and tournament champions – second defensively in the nation with 18 shutouts. Brian finished with an overall record of 22 wins, 2 ties and 2 loses. Currently manages Nike Elite Training.
