Marcel Boekhoorn
Marcel Boekhoorn (born 30 October 1959 in Nijmegen, Netherlands) is a Dutch investor with a wide array of business interests. Boekhoorn's estimated net worth is €1.3 billion ($1.5 billion), making him one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in the Netherlands.[citation needed]
Boekhoorn, a CPA by training, founded his investment vehicle Ramphastos Investments in 1994.[1] Over the ensuing years Boekhoorn acquired and sold numerous companies. Boekhoorn is the investor of the Dutch football club N.E.C. Nijmegen.
Boekhoorn also helps to fund the motor racing career of his son-in-law Giedo van der Garde, who raced in the 2013 Formula One Season for the Caterham F1 Team.

Boekhoorn's major feat was the €300 million acquisition of Dutch mobile operator Telfort (co-owned by the railways) and its subsequent sale nine months later to incumbent telco and market leader KPN at a valuation of €1.2 billion.

Boekhoorn serves on the supervisory board of German listed company Implantate AG (biomedical implants). Boekhoorn has a passion for wildlife and is an active sponsor of various nature and wildlife protection programs. Boekhoorn owns Ouwehands zoo (Ouwehands Dierenpark) and produced a TV series and multiple movies about eight young rangers (nl:Zoop in Afrika).[5][better source needed] During the state visit to China of Dutch King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima, the Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to a zoological partnership between the Netherlands and China with the purpose of protecting the giant panda. In the presence of the Chinese President and King Willem Alexander, Boekhoorn signed a partnership agreement on behalf of Ouwehands Zoo with the Chinese Wildlife Conservation Association.[6]
Amongst Boekhoorn's advisers are nl:Cees van der Hoeven, former CEO of supermarket chain Ahold and Wilco Jiskoot, former executive board member of ABN AMRO Bank.
