Martorelles is a municipality in the province of Barcelona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 3.6 square kilometres (1.4 sq mi) and as of 2011 had a population of 4903 people.[3]
It was in Martorelles that motorcycle ace Ricardo Tormo crashed and shattered his leg in 1984 during practice for a race at the Circuito Permanente del Jarama, ending his career. A car had managed to get into the area in which his Derbi team was practising, and he hit the car.
