Raghunathpur subdivision is a subdivision of the Purulia district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Raghunathpur municipality and six community development blocks: Para, Raghunathpur–I, Raghunathpur–II, Neturia, Santuri and Kashipur. The six blocks contain 49 gram panchayats and seven census towns. The subdivision has its headquarters at Raghunathpur.

Area

Apart from the Raghunathpur municipality, the subdivision contains seven census towns and rural areas of 49 gram panchayats under six community development blocks: Para, Raghunathpur–I, Raghunathpur–II, Neturia, Santuri and Kashipur.[1] The seven census towns are: Santaldih, Chapari, Arra, Nabagram, Hijuli, Par Beliya and Adra.[2]

Para block

Rural area under Para block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Anara, Deoli, Jabarrah–Jhapra–II, Udaypur–Joynagar, Bahara, Dubra, Nadiha Surulia, Bowridih, Jabarrah–Jhapra–I and Para.[1] Urban area under this block consists of two census towns: Santaldih and Chapari.[2] Para and Santaldih police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Para.[4]

Raghunathpur–I block

Rural area under Raghunathpur–I block consists of seven gram panchayats, viz. Arrah, Bero, Khajura, Sanka, Babugram, Chorpahari and Nutandi.[1] Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Arra.[2] Raghunathpur police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Raghunathpur.[4]

Raghunathpur–II block

Rural area under Raghunathpur–II block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Barrah, Joradih, Nildih, Cheliama, Mangalda–Mautore and Nutandih.Dumurkola under Nutandih Panchayat [1] Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Nabagram.[2] Raghunathpur and Santaldih police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Chaliama.[4]

Neturia block

Rural area under Neturia block consists of seven gram panchayats, viz. Bhamuria, Guniara, Raibandh, Sarbari, Digha, Janardandih and Saltore.[1] Urban area under this block consists of two census towns: Hijuli and Par Beliya.[2] Neturia police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Ramkanali.[4]

Santuri block

Rural area under Santuri block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Balitora, Ramchandrapur–Kotaldi, Tarabari, Garsika, Muradi and Santuri.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Santuri police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Murardi.[4]

Kashipur block

Rural area under Kashipur block consists of 13 gram panchayats, viz. Agardi–Chitra, Gorandih, Manihara, Sonathali, Barrah, Hadalda–Uparrah, Rangamati–Ranjandih, Beko, Kalidaha, Simla–Dhanara, Gagnabad, Kashipur and Sonaijuri.[1] Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Adra.[2] Kashipur police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Panchkotraj.[4]

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal:[5]

  • The municipal area of Raghunathpur, the Raghunathpur–I block, the Neturia block and the Santuri block will together form the Raghunathpur assembly constituency of West Bengal.
  • The Para block and the Raghunathpur–II block will together form the Para assembly constituency.
  • The Kashipur block will be part of the Kashipur assembly constituency.
  • The constituencies of Para and Raghunathpur will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates.
  • The constituencies of Para and Kashipur will be assembly segments of the Purulia (Lok Sabha constituency).
  • The Raghunathpur constituency will be an assembly segment of the Bankura (Lok Sabha constituency).
