Sagrera railway station

Sagrera Railway Station (Catalan: Estació de la Sagrera, Spanish: Estación de la Sagrera) is a major transport hub in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain currently under construction. It is planned to be finished in 2019. It will be a mainline rail and Barcelona Metro station that will serve the north of the city, with services on the AVE Madrid-Barcelona high-speed rail line as well as regular international, regional and commuter trains of Rodalies Barcelona. It is located in the Sagrera neighbourhood, in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona. Frank Gehry is the principal architect in charge of the project.

Overview

It will be one out of three AVE stations in Barcelona, with Estació de Sants in the south, Sagrera in the north and the future high-speed station serving the international airport at El Prat de Llobregat. It is currently under construction with funds from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona City Council. A transformation of the area will take place as well, as it is made up of large industrial surfaces, some of which are no longer used. Its name is sometimes displayed as Sagrera | TAV to avoid confusion with a similarly named metro station Intercanviador de Sagrera-Meridiana. TAV is short for Tren d'alta velocitat ("high-speed train").

It will be served by Barcelona Metro line L4 and in a few years, also by L9/L10.
