San Marino debuted at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013 held in Kiev, Ukraine.[1] San Marino RTV (SMRTV) a member organisation of the European Broadcasting Union was responsible for the selection process of their first participant.
San Marino had previously tried to take part in the contest back in 2011, in the Armenian capital Yerevan, however the national broadcaster pulled out before the contest as they had not found a representative in time.[1] In 2013 and 2015, San Marino selected its entrant in an internally, while in 2014 it used "Vocine nuove Castrocaro" a selection.
According to Giovanni, the announcer of the Sammarinese points 2013, San Marino has a jury.
