Serge Aurier (born 24 December 1992) is an Ivorian footballer who plays as a right back for Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain and the Côte d'Ivoire national football team.

Club career
RC Lens
Aurier played for various youth teams and academies before he was accepted to join Villepinte.[2] Aurier then joined Lens in Ligue 1, where this started his professional footballing career.[2][3] Shortly after, Aurier, who was then thirteen at the time, had to leave his friends and families as a result joining Lens.[2] There, Aurier was assigned to the club's reserve and at point, he was the club's captain in the reserve.[2] In June 2009, Aurier then signed his first professional contract at Lens.[2]
Aurier made his professional debut for the club, in a 1-0 win over Saint-Étienne on 22 December 2009.[4] Aurier was given another in the Round of 16 of Coupe de la Ligue, in a 2-1 loss against Lorient.[5] Aurier soon sustained a shoulder injury that left him out for two or three weeks.[6] Despite this, Aurier went on to make five appearance for Lens in his first season.
Aurier's second season started when Aurier officially in the first team and although he made twenty-six appearance, the club, however, was relegated to Ligue 2. Two prior their relegation, Aurier signed a contract extension with the club, keeping him until 2015.[7]
Ahead of the 2011-12 season, Aurier's performance soon attracted interests from clubs around England.[8] Aurier, himself, was considering leaving Lens for new challenges.[9] However, Aurier ruled out a move abroad, implying whether Aurier would stay or leave Lens.[10] Aurier would went on to make sixteen appearance in the first half of the season, which around that time, the club was facing financial problem.[11]
Toulouse
On 26 January 2012, Aurier signed for Toulouse on a four-and-a-half-year deal.[12] The move after Toulouse's president hinted on signing Aurier with a fee of 1.5 million euro.[13]
Aurier made his debut for the club two days later, in a 2-1 win over Caen.[14] Aurier then scored his first Toulouse goal, in a 2-1 loss against Lille on 1 April 2012.[15] Soon after, Aurier sprained his ankle that saw him missed six matches, though he played in the last game of the season, which saw Toulouse lose 2-0 against Ajaccio.[16] In his first half of his season at Toulouse, Aurier made ten appearance.
In his second full season at Toulouse, Aurier provided an assist for Wissam Ben Yedder, but was sent-off in the 84th minutes for a challenge on Henri Bedimo, in a 1-1 draw against Montpellier.[17] His sending off saw him suspended for three games with one-year suspended.[18] After serving two games, Aurier made his return on 1 September 2012, in a 1-1 draw against Reims.[19] Aurier then scored his first goal of the season on 11 January 2013, in a 2-2 draw against Saint-Étienne.[20] Aurier was on the sidelined later on this season after a tore hamstring[21] and injured his right knee.[22] Despite being on the sideline, Aurier made twenty-eight appearance and scoring once.
Ahead of the 2013-14 season, Aurier signed a contract extension, keeping him until 2018.[23] This came after a further re–ignited interests from clubs around Europe.[24] Soon under management of Alain Casanova, Aurier find himself in the 3-5-2 formation, playing in position as a right-sided centre-back in the three-man defence and as a wing-back.[11] Soon after, played a role of assisting two goals in two different matches by the end of September. Aurier then scored his first goal for the club, in a 2-1 loss against Evian on 2 November 2013.[25] His second goal of the season came on 2 February 2014, in a 2-2 draw against Marseille.[26] His third goal of the season came on 15 February 2014, in 3-1 win over Lorient[27] Aurier then scored two goals in two games against Reims[28] and Renness.[29] His sixth goal came on 5 April 2014, in a 2-1 loss against Lille.[30] Aurier went on to make thirty-four appearance and scoring six times. At the end of the 2013-14 season, Aurier was shortlisted for Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the first time in his career.[31] Aurier was also named as the second best player African player in Ligue 1.[32]
After an impressive display in the World Cup, Aurier linked a move away from Toulouse had been further re–ignited.[33][34] Aurier stated he's dream move is Arsenal that it cannot turned down a move when he said this in an interview.[35][36]
Paris Saint-Germain
On 23 July 2014, Aurier joined Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan with an option to buy.[37] His move to PSG believed to be a replacement for Christophe Jallet.[38] Upon moving to PSG, Aurier stated he had no concern over his first team chances, despite facing competition with Gregory van der Wiel, who also played in the same position as him.[39]
Aurier made his PSG debut in Ligue 1, coming on as a substitute for van der Wiel, in a 2-0 win over Bastia on 16 August 2014.[40] Aurier then scored his first PSG goal, in the 2014–15 Coupe de la Ligue#Round of 16, in a 3-1 victory over Ajaccio.[41] In the first half of the season, Aurier was unable to establish himself in the team, due to his own injury concerns and international commitment.[42][43] Aurier played his first PSG match in a month, playing 90 minutes, in a 2-2 draw against Caen.[44] Aurier's performance was praised.[45] However, during the match, Aurier injured himself and was not substituted after Blanc used three substitution during the game.[46]
Whilst on the sidelines, Aurier found himself in hot water with UEFA after criticizing Björn Kuipers' refereeing decision and calling him a 'dirty son of a b***h' in a video posted on Facebook.[47] Though Aurier apologised for his actions,[48] UEFA, nevertheless, banned Aurier for three matches.[49]
On 29 April 2015, Aurier secured a permanent move to Paris Saint-Germain with a four-year contract.[50]
International career
Although Aurier obtained France passport,[3] Aurier turned down a chance playing for Ivory Coast.[51][52] However, Aurier was called up by then Manager Sabri Lamouchi[53] and eventually played his first game for his homeland Ivory Coast in an official match against Gambia on 8 June 2013.[54]
2014 FIFA World Cup
Aurier was included in Ivory Coast's 23-man squad for the FIFA World Cup.[55] In their first group match against Japan, he provided two assists which resulted in two goals from Wilfried Bony and Gervinho, overcoming their opponents with a 2–1 win.[56]
2015 Africa Cup of Nations
On 29 December 2014, Aurier was called up for the Africa Cup of Nations[57] Aurier played six matches, especially the final, where he made an impressive display in this tournament.[58] Aurier was shortlisted for the CAF Team of the Tournament.[59]

Personal life
Born in Ouragahio, Côte d'Ivoire, Aurier moved to France at a young age after his parents wanted their children to have a better life .[2] Aurier was also passionate about football while growing up.[2]
Aurier's younger brother, Christopher, plays for his former club Lens.[60]
