The Great Indoors was a chain of home decor stores, founded by Sears in 1997.

History

The Great Indoors concept was introduced in 1997. Sears believed it had growth potential within the next 10 years. However, the chain did not prove successful, and Sears closed stores, starting with a first round in 2005. At one time, The Great Indoors had $550 million in sales.

Locations

The Great Indoors had locations in Chandler, Arizona; Scottsdale, Arizona; Burbank, California; Chino Hills, California; Louisville, Colorado; Lone Tree, Colorado; Deerfield, Illinois Schaumburg, Illinois and Lombard, Illinois; Gaithersburg, Maryland; Shelby Township, Michigan; Novi, Michigan; Las Vegas, Nevada; Columbus, Ohio; Arlington, Texas; Farmers Branch, Texas; and Houston, Texas and Woodbridge, New Jersey.

On February 23, 2012 Sears Holdings Corp. announced it was closing all nine "The Great Indoors" stores.[1]
