The following is an episode list for the Kids' WB animated television series The Batman, starring the titular character. The series premiered on September 11, 2004, and ended on March 22, 2008. Although the series borrows many elements from previous Batman storylines, it does not follow the continuity set by the comic books nor that of the previous Batman: The Animated Series or its spin-offs. Also, the animation style bears a strong resemblance to that of Jackie Chan Adventures, since Jeff Matsuda was the chief character designer for both shows. The designs of many supervillains, like the characters Joker, Penguin and Riddler, are very different from those of their comic counterparts.

A total of 65 episodes were produced and aired over the series' three-and-a-half year run.

The first five seasons are available on DVD. A Direct-To-DVD movie titled The Batman vs. Dracula, based on the series, was released in on October 18, 2005 and made its television debut on Cartoon Network's Toonami block on October 22, 2005. There is also a spin-off comic book series, The Batman Strikes!, published by DC Comics which is set in the same continuity and style of The Batman.

Episodes

Season 1: 2004–05

Season one comprised 13 episodes, aired over a period of eight months between September 2004 and May 2005. These episodes were released on The Complete First Season DVD in February 2006.

Three mob bosses want revenge on Batman because he constantly took down their operations. They call in a mysterious villain named Bane to finish him off, once and for all. Bane may seem like a normal criminal, but he is secretly so powerful that he could destroy all of Gotham. After their first encounter, Bane easily takes down Batman, seriously injuring him. Now, Batman must think of a new way to stop this menace.

After strange owls, vultures, and crows start to steal diamonds and jewels, Batman decides to find out who's behind this. It turns out that the crook is Oswald Cobblepot, aka Penguin, a socialite who attends Bruce Wayne's party. Alfred Pennyworth tries to catch Penguin for his misbehavior at the party, but unfortunately, Penguin catches Alfred. Batman must find Penguin's mansion and save Alfred, as well as defeat the Pudgy Purveyor of Perfidy and return all the jewels and gems he has stolen.

A flock of bats lead Yin & Bennett to Wayne Industries, where Bruce has a scientist named Dr. Langstrom working on a project related to bats. In truth, Langstrom actually develops a serum that can turn him into a beast called the "Man-Bat." The monstrous creature goes out of control and flies out into the city, feeding on animal blood.

Using his new ice powers, Mister Freeze steals the rarest and most valuable diamonds all over Gotham. When he and Batman first cross paths, he reveals that he was once a ordinary thief called Victor Fries, and was rendered dependent on a cryogenic suit after an encounter with the Dark Knight. He will stop at nothing to make Gotham his own personal domain, unless Batman can think of a way to stop Freeze.

Batman chases his new foe, Catwoman, who steals his utility belt. Now, with his belt in the wrong hands, Batman must figure out how to find the cat burglar before she puts his belt to no good use.

Batman meets Firefly, a man who dresses in a heavily-armored fly suit with a flame ensemble and has a turbo-enhanced jetpack. Firefly breaks into numerous Gotham companies, destroying their technology, and takes to the skies when Batman arrives. As Batman finds out, he's no easy foe to bring down. Meanwhile, Bruce meets up with Mayor Grange, who tells him that he's going to have to give his father's charity work to GothCorp instead of Wayne Enterprises.

Arthur Brown, a former child Prodigy now calling himself Cluemaster, plans revenge upon the people involved in the "Think Thank Thunk" game show for letting his opponent win years ago.

Arnold Wesker is a ventriloquist who controls Scarface, a puppet that has a whole other personality. Together, they pull off bank heists and Scarface promises this is their final one. Scarface, along with two knuckle head muscles, plan on stealing a gold reserve from Gotham Bank. Batman tries to stop the puppet and his lackeys. Meanwhile, Alfred plays matchmaker for Bruce.

Batman investigates a crime bearing the stamp of his archenemy Joker, despite the fact that Joker is currently--and has been--locked up in Arkham Asylum since Batman first put him there. A trail of victims encased in larger-than-life playing cards leads The Batman to the bizarre truth.

While Bruce Wayne is busy being the subject of a "Day in the Life" segment of a television magazine show, Penguin pulls his latest heist--at Bruce's mansion. Alfred is taken hostage, and Bruce must now find a way to transform into Batman--out of sight of the watchful TV cameras.

Joker is back in town and has a new invention, Joker putty, that can morph anything and everything into rubber or putty. Meanwhile, Chief Rojas tells his Detectives to stop both Joker and Batman once and for all, saying both of them have no place in Gotham.

Leaving off after the previous episode, Ethan transforms into the monstrous Clayface after Joker tortures him with his putty. He targets the man he despises the most, Chief Rojas. When Batman and Yin realize who he is, they will have to work together to keep Ethan from becoming anything like Joker.

As an added gag bonus, Batman: The Animated Series producers Alan Burnett, Bruce Timm, and Glen Murakami voice escaped inmates at Arkham Asylum in "The Bat in the Belfry".

Season 2: 2005

The production order for season two comprised 13 episodes and a direct to video movie. This season introduces Riddler with a very new look. The episodes ran on Kids' WB from May until September 2005, and the movie was released on DVD in October 2005. The Complete Second Season (without the movie) was released on DVD in September 2006. At the end of this season, Batman was accepted by the Gotham City Police Department.

Joker decides to take on the role of "Batman" and doses Bruce with Joker venom to create an arch-rival of his own. This episode features a reference to Superman as Joker is wearing glasses and a coat with slicked back hair and proclaims, "This looks like a job for" a Superman trademark.

Penguin discovers a sonic device that allows him to control birds, but instead, he gets a sonic device which controls bats. When he turns it on, Man-Bat is placed under his control. Meanwhile, Alfred must deal with a nuisance raccoon which has found its way into the Bat-Cave and is wreaking havoc on the electric equipment.

Ethan Bennett is captured and put on trial for his crimes as Clayface. He's released on probation but finds himself tempted to the criminal way of life.

Joker pirates the airwaves of Gotham in order to broadcast his crimes on TV as entertainment. When Yin's overzealous new partner tries to bring the clown prince of crime down, he merely becomes Joker's latest "co-star." Batman must find where Joker is broadcasting from before he can carry out his plan to make Gotham die of undying laughter.

Joker takes Yin hostage, but once captured he refuses to tell of her whereabouts. Convinced it's the only way to learn Yin's location before she meets her demise, Batman uses a device created by Professor Hugo Strange to enter the mind of Joker in search of an answer.

Joker, Penguin, and Riddler set up a bet to settle their differences by giving all of Gotham over to whoever is able to capture and discover the true identity of Batman. While a new member to the Gotham police force determines Batman's future in the city.

Season 3: 2005–06

The third season comprised 13 episodes which aired over eight months from September 2005 through May 2006. Like the first two seasons, it began directly following the end of the previous season. This season also aired with a brand new intro and musical theme. The season introduces Poison Ivy and Batgirl. Initially, the two have an inspiring relationship, but they choose very different paths. The Complete Third Season was released on DVD in April 2007. This was the last season on The WB when it became The CW.

Joker becomes a raging strongman when he gets hold of Bane's Venom. However, when Batman fails to stop Joker's wrath, Batgirl must learn to overcome her own physical limitations in order to save the day.

Hugo Strange creates an AI database called D.A.V.E. (Digitally Advanced Villain Emulator), encoded with the minds of Gotham's greatest criminals, in order to better predict their crimes. However, D.A.V.E. breaks free and proclaims himself to be "Gotham's ultimate criminal mastermind", and is later on about to reveal Batman's identity. D.A.V.E. was based on another artificially intelligent villain named H.A.R.D.A.C. from Batman: The Animated Series which it was also voiced by Jeff Bennett. Absent: Batgirl

Season 4: 2006–07

Season four introduces Robin, Tony Zucco, Harley Quinn (veteran Bat-writer Paul Dini, creator of the character, wrote her debut episode), Black Mask, Killer Moth, Everywhere Man, Penguin's version of The Injustice Gang, a new Clayface (Basil Karlo), and the Martian Manhunter. New episodes air on The CW, which launched in September 2006 and is the new home of Kids WB. The Complete Fourth Season was released on DVD in November 2007.

Meanwhile, Batgirl and Robin must learn how to work together. However, Moth gets infected by a chemical which the team stole, and becomes a giant, monster moth. Note: During this episode, Batman reveals his secret identity to Batgirl, and takes her to the Batcave.

After Ethan Bennett foils one of Joker's plans, he plans to prove himself to Batman by turning a new leaf. Season 5: 2007–08

Season 5 expands the series further into the rest of the DC Universe, introducing superheroes from the Justice League of America and their enemies, both of which include Superman, Hawkman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Flash; and the supervillains are Wrath, Lex Luthor, Toyman, Metallo, Shadow Thief, Count Vertigo, Sinestro, The Terrible Trio, and the Mirror Master. This season is the last of the series. The series finale aired on March 22, 2008. The Complete Fifth Season was released on DVD in July 2008.

Movie

The 2005 direct-to-video feature film The Batman vs. Dracula was released after four episodes of the third season had aired. An intended sequel based on Batman: Hush was in pre-production before the project was cancelled. The movie was released to DVD on October 18, 2005 and made its television debut on Cartoon Network's Toonami block on October 22, 2005. It was released on DVD as a tie-in with the live-action Batman Begins.
