The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (JACI) is an open access,[1] medical journal in the field of allergy and immunology. It is one of two official journals of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.[2] The journal was established in 1929 as the Journal of Allergy and obtained its current name in 1971.[3][4] The name change was purportedly related to a change in the attitude among physicians about the breadth of applicability of the term "allergy".[5] The journal has been published under the Mosby imprint since its inception.[3][4] The current publication is released monthly, while the predecessor publication was released every two months.[3][4]

According to the 2014 Journal Citation Reports, the journal has an impact factor of 11.48, ranking it 1st of 24 in the Allergy category and 6th of 148 in the Immunology category.[6] According to ResearchGate the impact factor increased from 4.179 to 12.047 between 2000 and 2012.[1] As of 2014, this journal was the most cited of any in the allergy/immunology medical speciality.[7]

JACI's editor-in-chief, Donald Y.M. Leung, M.D., Ph.D., was appointed in 1997.[8] As of 2003, Leung was a department head at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado.[9]
