Hawksworth is a village in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottinghamshire, England. It lies 10 miles (16km) south of Newark-on-Trent and adjacent to Flintham, Sibthorpe, Thoroton, Scarrington and Screveton. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 127.[1] The Church of St. Mary and All Saints, Hawksworth is Norman, with an elaborate tympanum, but was almost completely rebuilt in the 19th century. There is a Saxon cross shaft.[2]
The name "Hawksworth" derives from the old English "worth" to mean farm and the owner of aforementioned original farm, Hawk. It is mentioned twice in the Domesday Book [3] with a taxable value in total of 1.7 geld units.
