Imperial Buses[1] was a bus operating company located in Romford, Greater London. The company operated public transport services and private hire in Essex, Greater London and Thurrock. It ceased trading in August 2014.

Operations

Imperial Buses was formed in 1998.[2] It operated routes under contract to Essex County Council[3] and Thurrock Council. Routes 11 Purfleet to Basildon and 374 Grays to Basildon are operated.[4][5]

In December 2001, it commenced operating route H1 from Harlow to Loughton. In December 2009 it ceased operating route H1[6] however in 2010 the company was summoned to a public inquiry instigated by the Transport Commissioner over complaints of poor service during H1's final months.[7]

Imperial Buses also operated charter services through its London Routemaster Bus Company subsidiary.[8] This fleet consists of heritage buses including AEC Routemasters.[9] The fleet livery closely resembles that of the former London Country.

Imperial Buses ceased trading in August 2014.[10]
