Marko Meerits (born 26 April 1992) is an Estonian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Dutch Eerste Divisie club Emmen and the Estonia national football team.

Club career

Estonia

Meerits, who is known for his long goal kicks, made league debut in 2008, in Esiliiga as a second-half substitute for Flora's farm club Warrior Valga. He appeared two more times as a substitute in that season, while still playing for Flora's youth team.[2] For the next season he was moved to Flora II (Flora's reserve team), where he was a first choice keeper, playing 29 matches.[2] In 2010 he was used as a back-up for first choice Stanislav Pedõk. His man of the match performance in 2011 Estonian Supercup against FC Levadia Tallinn, where he saved two penalties and converted one himself in the shootout,[3] earned him the starting place in the team, which he never gave away.

Vitesse

On 6 July 2011, Meerits signed a three-year deal with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.[4][5] On 7 August 2011, Meerits made his first team debut against Ado Den Haag coming on as a 21st-minute substitute for injured Eloy Room. He managed to keep the clean sheet as the game finished 0–0.

Emmen

On 5 July 2014, Meerits signed a two-year deal with Dutch Eerste Divisie side Emmen.[6]
