The A225 road runs in a north-south direction, connecting Dartford with Sevenoaks in Kent, England. For much of its journey it follows the valley of the River Darenth.

Overview

The road begins in Dartford, leading out of the town in a southerly direction from the A226 ring-road passing along Lowfield Street. It then crosses the Dartford bypass road at a major junction. Interestingly the road from this junction until its junction to the M25, Princes Road, is also called the A225. Next is the junction to Wilmington and the road now becomes Hawley Road; before reaching that village it passes under both the A2 and the M25; there are no junctions with either. 4 miles (6.4 km) from its start, the A225 passes Sutton-at-Hone village; most of the following villages are not on the main road, but are located to the east on the river itself. Here the railway line crosses the road by a high brick viaduct at Farningham Road railway station. Horton Kirby village is next; the M20 motorway crosses overhead, again with no junction to the A225; and the road enters a roundabout junction with the A20 road, to lose its identity for a short distance as it follows the latter in an easterly direction, before a turning off once more to the south.

Now the river is on the west side of the road, and at Eynsford, the next village, the railway between Swanley and Sevenoaks joins the road to travel up the Darenth valley together. There are stations at Eynsford, Shoreham and Otford. Here the road is on the eastern side of narrowing valley, above the flood plain, and the railway crosses and recrosses the road on several occasions. On the northern outskirts of Sevenoaks, there is a crossroads with the A25 road. It continues its journey by climbing St Johns Hill, to enter the town centre via Dartford Road. The A225 then continues out of Sevenoaks until its junction with the A21 where at this roundabout the road becomes B245 - London Road.
