Packaging and title

"Ich denk an Dich" is German for "I think of you." The album is subtitled "Ein Abend voller Zärtlichkeit," which translates to "An evening full of tenderness."
Over 50 minutes of music is packed onto a single disc, so the LP record likely has a narrow dynamic range and low volume. This may be why an alternate LP record named Step into My Life with only 13 of the tracks was released; the more conventional running time would allow for better sound quality.

Release

Ariola Records released two versions of the album in Germany in 1989: Ich denk an Dich, which has 16 tracks, and Step into My Life, which has 13 tracks, omitting "Love Story," "A Man Without Love," and "Star of Bethlehem." Each was available in both LP and CD formats and had its own cover design. Both titles are included in the charts below.
There were 3 significant CD re-issues:

  • UK 1992 (Westmoor) Step into My Life, same as Ariola's;
  • US February 7, 1994[1] (Pair) 16 track version, named Step into My Life, with a unique cover; and
  • UK 1997 (QED) 16 track version, named A Man Without Love, with a unique cover (misspelling the name as 'Englebert')
