• Kirsan Nikolayevich Ilyumzhinov (Russian: Кирса́н Никола́евич Илюмжи́нов), the President of the Republic of Kalmykia of the Russian Federation, is a Kalmyk. He is also the head of the FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs or World Chess Federation), the preeminent international chess organization, since 1995.
