Roselawn Cemetery (Irish: Reilig Phlásóg na Rós) (also known as Roselawn or Roselawn Graveyard) is a large cemetery on the outskirts of Belfast.[1] It opened in 1954. It is on the Ballygowan Road. The ashes of association footballer George Best was buried here on 3 December 2005 after his death on 25 November. The cemetery is maintained by the Belfast City Council.[2]
Opening hours: 8am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday - November 1 to February 28 (10am Sundays)
8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday - March 1 to October 31 (10am Sundays) 8am to 8pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays - April 1 to September 30
Notable Graves
- George Best - Plot No. S 295 - Ashes buried here on 3 December 2005 after his death on 25 November 2005.[3]
- Basil Brooke, 1st Viscount Brookeborough- Politician, nobleman and soldier
