Treasure Cay Airport (IATA: TCBICAO: MYAT) is an airport serving Treasure Cay, in the Abaco Islands in The Bahamas.[1]

Facilities

The airport resides at an elevation of 8 ft (2.4 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 14/32 with an asphalt surface measuring 2,134 m × 46 m (7,001 ft × 151 ft).[1]

There is one terminal building, with departures in one room and arrivals in another. A small store sells snacks and the check-in desks are quiet if not crowded. No more than 15 planes arrive/depart a day, most to Florida and some to Nassau.

Accidents and incidents

  • On 25 March 2012, four American citizens from Neptune Beach, Florida and Jacksonville, Florida were killed when a six-seat single-engine Piper PA-32R aircraft crashed into bushes between the end of the runway and S.C. Bootle Highway which runs adjacent to the airport. The aircraft, which was attempting to take off for a flight to Fort Pierce, Florida, was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters reached the crash site. The cause was not immediately known.[4]
