Zhou Mi (April 19, 1986)[1] is a Chinese singer, actor, MC and radio host. He is a member of the boy band Super Junior-M and the ballad group S.M. The Ballad. In 2014, he released his first solo EP, Rewind.

Early life

Zhou was born in Wuhan, China, and studied Broadcasting at Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus.[2] During high school, Zhou started to enter national singing and entertainment competitions, winning many of them.[3]

Zhou made a name for himself in the Chinese entertainment scene by competing in competitions.[4] While in contentions for the final round of CCTV’s Challenging the Host, a televised national competition for aspiring MCs from all over China he received an offer from SM Entertainment and decided to go to Korea, in late 2006.[5] Zhou won the grand prize at the SM UCC Star Audition,[6] through an online audition, and joined Super Junior-M, Super Junior's third official sub-unit

Career

Super Junior-M

The group debuted in China on April 8, 2008, with the release of U", a Mandarin remake of Super Junior's 2006 single "U"; Zhou was the main vocalist.[7][8]

He also joined Super Junior-M with Henry Lau released the single "Santa U Are The One", taken from SMTown's eighth winter album, 2011 Winter SMTown – The Warmest Gift, released on December 13, 2011.[9]

SM The Ballad

In February, Zhou became a new member of the ballad group SM The Ballad, initially formed by SM Entertainment in 2010. On the group's 2nd album, Breath, he sang a Chinese version of "Blind".[10][11]

Solo debut

Zhou debuted as a solo singer with released EP, Rewind on October 31, 2014.[12]The title song "Rewind", features Exo-K's Chanyeol as rapper in Korean version and Tao in Chinese version. On the same album, he collaboration with f(x)'s Victoria in tracks song "Loving You". On the other track "Love Tonight", once again he collaboration with Tao. Zhou wrote the Chinese lyric for all the songs on the album. This album release not only in South Korea but in China and Hongkong too with bonus track "Love Sick" in Cantonese version.

Acting

In 2012, Zhou later starred as a main character in the idol drama When Love Walked In.[13]

The drama started filming in mid-January. The drama’s filming locations included Shenzhen (primary), Dongguan, Huizhou, and Haikou (in Hainan). Zhou is cast as Li Shanglin, a character described by the drama info blast as “sweet-tempered, talented,”

In 2013, he appeared in a cameo role for Vincent Fang's film Rhythm of Rain.[14][15][16]

Zhou's role is big boy who has a bright personality and is very sincere. One summer afternoon, he was drenched by a sudden heavy rainfall, then ran to take cover under the side of a roof, and in a moment of childishness began to play "the sound of rain," and next to him there was a female high school student next to him, also taking cover from the rain, looking at him with a strange expression.

After break two years on screen, in 2015 Zhou decide comeback on drama. He was linked to the upcoming Hunan TV drama "Best Couple". He was cast as Hee Sung who is a hardworking, Hitchcock-loving actor who has started from the bottom. He became a top star and made a success through efforts despite of his poor family conditions. He finds himself emotionally involved with his first love, fake wife and admirer. Best Couple’s background is set in modern day Korean entertainment industry, and this upcoming series is being highly anticipated since it is the first TV production project of China’s e-commerce company Alibaba.[17]

Host

On October 22, Zhou became an MC for season 4 of the SBS MTV's music program The Show with Park Ji-yeon (T-ara) and a new male MC Hongbin (VIXX).[18]

Zhou was appeared as the 'Talk MC' on the new season of fashion survival show "Fashion King - Secret Box", which premieres April 25th, 2015,this is a survival show starring top Korean and Chinese celebrities. The stars will team with fashion designers and complete missions, competing with other celebrity-designer teams.[19]
