  2. Arrondissement of Caen, (prefecture of the Calvados department: Caen) with 288 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 366,169 in 1990, and was 389,973 in 1999, an increase of 6.5%.
  3. Arrondissement of Lisieux, (subprefecture: Lisieux) with 203 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 136,081 in 1990, and was 140,504 in 1999, an increase of 3.25%.
  4. Arrondissement of Vire, (subprefecture: Vire) with 88 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 53,948 in 1990, and was 54,886 in 1999, an increase of 1.74%.
